ingredients

6-8 red or golden beets
1 tablespoon Kikkoman® Soy Sauce
½ tablespoon Kikkoman® Sesame Oil
1 tablespoon mint, chopped

directions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F.
  2. While oven is heating, prepare your beets by peeling and chopping them into approximately 1 inch cubes.

  3. Place chopped beets on a baking tray and drizzle with soy sauce and sesame oil. Bake for 30-40 minutes, stirring halfway.
  4. To serve, sprinkle the beets with chopped mint.

Tip: To avoid beet juice stains on your hands, either wear gloves or fill a bowl with cold water and dunk your hands and the beets in the water 2-3 times while peeling to rinse off the juices.

THE STORY OF SOY SAUCE

Even people who love soy sauce and use it all the time are often surprised to learn what it is and how it’s made. We make ours from just four simple ingredients—water, soybeans, wheat, and salt. Those ingredients are transformed through a traditional brewing process—much like making wine or beer—that has remained unchanged for centuries.
