You can’t go wrong with this vegetarian appetizer! A meatless version of sticky chicken wings, these seitan nuggets are tossed in homemade wing sauce and sprinkled with a crispy crunch of sesame. Bake in the oven for a healthier method of preparation. ¼ cup all-purpose flour ½ cup unsweetened almond milk ⅔ cup Kikkoman® Panko Bread Crumbs 1-pound seitan pieces ⅔ cup Kikkoman® Gluten-Free Hoisin Sauce 4 tablespoons Kikkoman® Less Sodium Soy Sauce 1 teaspoon garlic, minced 1 teaspoon ginger, minced 1 teaspoon sesame seeds 2 tablespoons green onion, finely chopped
Instructions
Heat oven to 425ºF and line a medium baking sheet with parchment paper. Add flour, almond milk, and panko bread crumbs to 3 separate shallow bowls. Coat each piece of seitan in flour, then almond milk, then panko and set on the baking sheet about 1 inch apart. Bake for 10 minutes.
Stir together hoisin sauce, soy sauce, garlic and ginger in a medium mixing bowl. Remove baking sheet from oven and brush each piece of seitan with sauce, reserving half of the sauce in bowl. Return to oven for 10 minutes longer. Toss wings in remaining sauce and serve hot, garnished with sesame seeds and green onion.
