Umami Popcorn

Try a new kind of popcorn on family movie night. This savory treat is low-cal and extremely budget-friendly, but packed with tons of flavor. Whip up some homemade popcorn with a drizzle of umami flavor as an unexpected appetizer before a dinner party, send some along to school as a lunchtime snack, or serve a big bowl of delicious popped corn at your next book club meeting. This quick snack is ready in minutes!

Ingredients

Yield: Serves 4-6
Prep Time: 3 minutes
Cook Time: 6 minutes
Total Time: 9 minutes

2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 tablespoon Kikkoman® Less Sodium Soy Sauce
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
⅓ cup popcorn kernels
1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds (optional)

Instructions

  1. Microwave butter in a small bowl for 15-20 seconds. Stir in soy sauce and set aside.
  2. Heat vegetable oil over medium heat in a medium pot. Cook popcorn according to package directions.
  3. Transfer popped corn to a large bowl and drizzle with soy-butter mixture. Gently toss to coat. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and enjoy warm.
