kikkoman products used:

ingredients

3 tablespoons neutral cooking oil
4 slices of pineapple
½ cup + 1 tablespoon Kikkoman® Teriyaki Takumi, Original
1 pound thinly sliced chicken breast
6 thin slices of red onion
2 (8-inch) hoagie rolls
2 cups mixed greens
1 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds (optional)

directions

  1. Add 1 tablespoon of oil to a medium skillet and heat over medium heat. Brush pineapple slices with 1 tablespoon of teriyaki takumi sauce. Add pineapple slices to skillet and sauté for 4-5 minutes on each side to lightly caramelize. Set aside on a small plate.
  2. Blot chicken slices dry with paper towel. Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken and brown for 7-8 minutes, stirring occasionally until cooked through. Reduce heat to low. Add teriyaki takumi sauce and toss chicken with tongs to coat. Simmer for 1 minute.
  3. Layer red onion, pineapple, and chicken on hoagie rolls. Drizzle with additional teriyaki takumi sauce if desired and top with mixed greens and sesame seeds. Serve right away.

THE STORY OF SOY SAUCE

Even people who love soy sauce and use it all the time are often surprised to learn what it is and how it’s made. We make ours from just four simple ingredients—water, soybeans, wheat, and salt. Those ingredients are transformed through a traditional brewing process—much like making wine or beer—that has remained unchanged for centuries.
