About this recipe

These Ponzu Grilled Chicken Wings are everything you want in a wing—crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and dripping with bold, citrusy flavor. Marinated in savory ponzu chicken marinade and finished with a glossy brush of pineapple teriyaki glaze, these wings are next-level backyard BBQ material.

Perfect for game day, a casual cookout, or anytime you’re wondering what goes with chicken wings (answer: more wings).

Tips and Tricks

  • The baking powder helps achieve an ultra-crispy skin without frying.
  • For even better flavor, marinate the wings overnight.
  • Flip them often on the grill—grilled chicken wings cook fast and need attention for the perfect char.
  • Want more of a kick? Add a dash of chili flakes to the marinade before grilling.

ingredients

For Marinade/Wings
1 cup Kikkoman® Ponzu
2 pounds chicken wings
1 tablespoon baking powder
½ teaspoon black pepper
½ cup Kikkoman® Teriyaki Baste & Glaze with Honey & Pineapple (No Preservatives Added)

For Serving
Lemon wedges
Chopped parsley

directions

  1. Combine wings in a large shallow glass dish or large zip top bag. Pour ponzu sauce over wings until evenly covered. Cover and refrigerate for 2 hours.
  2. Heat grill to 425ºF. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place a metal drying rack on top. Drain marinade from wings and blot dry with paper towels. Place wings in a bowl. Sprinkle with baking powder and black pepper. Toss to combine.
  3. Grill wings for 20-25 minutes, flipping wings every 5-6 minutes for even cooking. During the last 5 minutes, brush tops of wings with teriyaki.
  4. Cool wings for 5 minutes. Serve wings warm with additional teriyaki for dipping, topped with lemon wedges and fresh parsley.

THE STORY OF SOY SAUCE

Even people who love soy sauce and use it all the time are often surprised to learn what it is and how it’s made. We make ours from just four simple ingredients—water, soybeans, wheat, and salt. Those ingredients are transformed through a traditional brewing process—much like making wine or beer—that has remained unchanged for centuries.
