The Takumi Story

In Japanese, the word takumi means “craftsmanship.” But it’s more than a word. It’s a philosophy- a profound respect for the mastery of a craft. At Kikkoman, this philosophy guides everything we do.

Now more than ever, we know you care about the art of cooking and the quality of the ingredients you use. So we used our centuries of skill and craftsmanship-our own time-tested takumi- to create a line of very special teriyaki sauces. We wanted to bring America’s home cooks what they want: big, bold flavor, rich umami, and premium ingredients you can see, smell and taste in every mouthwatering bite. When it came time to give these sauces a name, we chose that beautiful word that captures the essence of everything we do. We called the sauces Takumi.
