Directions
- In a small bowl, stir together ingredients for special sauce. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef with black pepper sauce, salt, and pepper. Loosely roll into eight 3 oz. balls, set aside on a plate.
- Heat a pan or griddle to medium-high heat and add burgers. Use a spatula to smash the burgers down to ¼” thickness and cook for 2 minutes. A sheet of wax paper between the burger and spatula helps to prevent sticking.
- Flip burgers, add cheese to half the burgers and cook for an additional 2 minutes. Remove from the griddle and stack patties together, sandwiching each slice of cheese between 2 patties.
- Dress the buns with the special sauce, lettuce, tomatoes, and other favorite toppings before serving.
