kikkoman products used:

ingredients

4 cloves of garlic, peeled
3 pounds Yukon gold potatoes
4 tablespoons unsalted butter
2 tablespoons Kikkoman® Sesame Oil
½ cup whole milk
1 teaspoon salt + extra for salting water
2 tablespoons chopped green onion
1 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds

directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375ºF. Place garlic cloves in the center of a piece of aluminum foil. Drizzle with olive oil. Wrap tightly and place on a baking sheet. Transfer to oven. Roast for 30-35 minutes. Cloves are ready when they are a rich brown color and soft. Cool at room temperature while preparing potatoes.
  2. Lightly peel and quarter potatoes. Add to a large pot and cover with water. Salt water and bring to a boil over medium heat. Boil for 15-17 minutes, until potatoes are fork tender.
  3. Drain potatoes and return to pot. Add butter, sesame oil, milk, roasted garlic cloves, and salt. Use a hand mixer or potato masher to blend garlic into potatoes until potatoes are mostly smooth, careful not to over mix.
  4. Transfer to a serving bowl and drizzle with extra sesame oil if desired. Top with green onion and toasted sesame seeds.

THE STORY OF SOY SAUCE

Even people who love soy sauce and use it all the time are often surprised to learn what it is and how it’s made. We make ours from just four simple ingredients—water, soybeans, wheat, and salt. Those ingredients are transformed through a traditional brewing process—much like making wine or beer—that has remained unchanged for centuries.
