- Whisk together sugar, soy sauce, oils, and 3 cloves of garlic in a large shallow bowl.
- Add the steaks to the marinade and flip to coat. Let sit for 15 minutes.
- Preheat grill to medium high and once hot, add the steaks to the grill.
- Allow to cook until desired doneness, flipping after 5-7 minutes, depending on the thickness of your steaks.
- Meanwhile, heat butter and 2 cloves of garlic in a skillet on medium-low heat.
- Add mushrooms and thyme and cook for 10 minutes or until the mushrooms are soft and beginning to brown.
- Remove steaks from grill, cover with tin foil, and allow to rest for 5 minutes before eating.
- Top with mushrooms.
