About this recipe

Looking for a dinner that’s hearty, bold, and super easy? This lentil bowl brings the heat with a punchy Kikkoman® Teriyaki Takumi, Gochujang Spicy Miso, balanced by earthy lentils, tender veggies, and fluffy jasmine rice. It’s one of those meals that feels nourishing and exciting at the same time. Perfect for weeknights when you want something cozy but exciting. Bonus: It’s totally plant-based and customizable.

Tips & Tricks:

  • Wondering how long it takes to cook lentils? Brown or green lentils take around 20–25 minutes and don’t need soaking.
  • Try swapping jasmine rice for brown rice, quinoa, or cauliflower rice.
  • Want extra heat? Add a splash of sriracha or more gochujang sauce on top.

ingredients

1 cup dried brown or green lentils, rinsed
3 cups vegetable broth
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 cup carrots, sliced
1 small red onion, sliced
2 cups broccoli florets
1 teaspoon garlic, minced
⅓ cup Kikkoman® Teriyaki Takumi, Gochujang Spicy Miso

For Serving
Cooked jasmine rice
2 tablespoons cilantro, chopped

directions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine lentils and vegetable broth. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Reduce heat to low and simmer uncovered for 20 minutes or until the lentils are just tender. Drain any excess liquid and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet or wok, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add carrots and sauté for 5 minutes. Add onion and broccoli and cook for 4- 5 minutes until just tender. Stir in the garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Reduce the heat to low and stir in the cooked lentils. Add Takumi sauce. Stir well to coat evenly and cook for 2 to 3 minutes.
  4. Spoon the mixture over bowls of jasmine rice. Garnish with cilantro.

THE STORY OF SOY SAUCE

Even people who love soy sauce and use it all the time are often surprised to learn what it is and how it’s made. We make ours from just four simple ingredients—water, soybeans, wheat, and salt. Those ingredients are transformed through a traditional brewing process—much like making wine or beer—that has remained unchanged for centuries.
