- Cook rice according to the rice cooker instructions. Once it’s cooked, transfer it to a large bowl.
- Add sesame oil and soy sauce.
- Combine the rice and seasonings together.
- In a small bowl, make Tare (sauce) by combining the soy sauce and mirin.
- Divide the rice into equal 8 portions.
- Wet your hands and make 8 rice balls. Gently add pressure to make rice into balls.
- Typically, rice balls are a triangle shape.
- Put the rice balls on the parchment paper.
- Turn on medium heat and cook for 2 minutes. Meanwhile, brush the top of onigiri with the sauce and let the bottom of the rice ball brown.
- Turn and cook the other side for 1 minute. Meanwhile, brush on top of the rice balls.
- Turn and cook for 1 minute. Remove from the heat and serve immediately.
