1¾ cups vegetable or reduced-sodium chicken broth
1 cup long grain rice
½ cup coarsely shredded carrots
⅓ cup Kikkoman® Teriyaki Takumi, Original
¼ cup frozen peas, thawed
2 tablespoons Kikkoman® Sesame Oil
2 teaspoons minced ginger or ⅛ teaspoon ground
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
2 green onions, sliced and coarsely chopped
2 eggs, beaten
Vegetable oil

Toppings:
Additional Kikkoman® Teriyaki Takumi, Original
Diagonally sliced green onions

directions

  1. Bring broth and rice to a boil in a medium saucepan. Reduce heat and simmer, covered, for 25 minutes. Remove from heat and let stand for 5 minutes. Remove cover and fluff with a fork.
  2. Transfer to a large bowl and stir in carrots, Kikkoman® Teriyaki Takumi, Original, peas, Kikkoman® Sesame Oil, ginger, and garlic. Mix well then let cool to warm before stirring in cilantro, green onions and eggs.
  3. Heat a waffle iron and brush with vegetable oil or spray with nonstick cooking spray. Spoon a 1-inch layer of rice in the center and almost to the edges. Close and cook until golden brown. Remove and repeat with remaining rice.
  4. Serve immediately with additional Kikkoman® Teriyaki Takumi, Original and green onions.

THE STORY OF SOY SAUCE

Even people who love soy sauce and use it all the time are often surprised to learn what it is and how it’s made. We make ours from just four simple ingredients—water, soybeans, wheat, and salt. Those ingredients are transformed through a traditional brewing process—much like making wine or beer—that has remained unchanged for centuries.
