About this recipe

Sweet, savory, and perfectly cooked, this Honey Teriyaki Salmon is a delicious way to enjoy seafood at home. Marinated in Kikkoman® Teriyaki Marinade & Sauce and finished with a sticky honey glaze, the salmon is pan-seared to achieve a beautifully caramelized crust. Topped with sesame seeds and fresh green onions, it’s as visually appealing as it is flavorful.

This honey teriyaki salmon recipe is easy to make but feels like a restaurant-quality dish. Marinating the salmon allows the teriyaki flavor to infuse the fish, while the quick honey glaze adds just the right amount of sweetness. Whether you’re serving it with rice, roasted veggies, or a simple salad, this dish is versatile enough for both weeknight meals and special occasions.

For a different spin, you can bake this honey teriyaki salmon in the oven or try it in an air fryer for a crispier texture.

Tips and Tricks

  • Marinate the salmon for at least an hour to let the flavors soak in, but don’t go beyond 24 hours as the acids in the marinade can break down the fish too much.
  • If you prefer baking, cook the salmon at 375°F for about 12-15 minutes, brushing the honey glaze on during the last 5 minutes.
  • Blotting the salmon after marinating helps achieve a beautiful sear when pan-frying.

ingredients

¼ + ¼ cup Kikkoman® Teriyaki Marinade & Sauce, divided
4 (4-6 ounce) salmon fillets, thawed if frozen
¼ cup honey
1 tablespoon cooking oil

For Serving
2 tablespoons green onions, chopped
1 teaspoon sesame seeds

directions

  1. Add ¼ cup of teriyaki to a shallow dish. Place salmon flesh side down in marinade. Cover and marinade for 1 hour in refrigerator.
  2. Heat honey and remaining teriyaki over low heat in a saucepan. Bring to a simmer and cook for 5 minutes. Turn heat off and pour into a glass bowl. Cool to room temperature.
  3. Drain and discard marinade and blot salmon with paper towels to remove excess marinade. Heat oil over medium heat in a large skillet for 2 minutes. Place salmon in skillet flesh side down and cook for 3-4 minutes. Flip salmon and cook 3-4 minutes longer.
  4. Drizzle honey teriyaki sauce over salmon and cook 1 minute longer or until salmon is cooked through. Serve hot garnished with sesame seeds and green onion.

THE STORY OF SOY SAUCE

Even people who love soy sauce and use it all the time are often surprised to learn what it is and how it’s made. We make ours from just four simple ingredients—water, soybeans, wheat, and salt. Those ingredients are transformed through a traditional brewing process—much like making wine or beer—that has remained unchanged for centuries.
