kikkoman products used:

ingredients

8 ounces cream cheese, softened
2 teaspoons Kikkoman® Soy Sauce
2 teaspoons mayonnaise
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon pepper
3 fresh jalapenos, diced
1 package wonton wrappers
1 quart of canola oil

For Serving
Kikkoman® Sweet & Sour Sauce

directions

  1. Place softened cream cheese, soy sauce, mayo, garlic powder, pepper, and jalapenos into a bowl.
  2. Mix until all ingredients are fully combined.
  3. Place 1 tablespoon of filling into each wonton wrapper; use a drop of water to seal the edges of the wonton together.
  4. Once all wontons are filled, place a damp paper towel over the wontons to keep them from drying out.
  5. Fill Dutch oven with canola oil and heat to around 375°F or use the chopstick test— if a chopstick bubbles when placed in oil, it is ready to fry.
  6. Once the oil is hot, place wontons directly into the oil, submerging fully. Fry in batches, being sure not to overcrowd the pot.
  7. Once wontons are golden and crispy on both sides (flip halfway if needed), around 5 minutes, remove from oil and place on a wire rack to let the excess oil drip off.
  8. Repeat the process until all wontons are fried.
  9. Serve on a platter with sweet & sour sauce for dipping!

THE STORY OF SOY SAUCE

Even people who love soy sauce and use it all the time are often surprised to learn what it is and how it’s made. We make ours from just four simple ingredients—water, soybeans, wheat, and salt. Those ingredients are transformed through a traditional brewing process—much like making wine or beer—that has remained unchanged for centuries.
