Tips and Tricks

  • If you prefer dark meat, swap the chicken breasts for chicken thighs and adjust the cooking time as needed.
  • Pair this dish with garlic bread or creamy mashed potatoes for the ultimate comfort meal.
  • To thicken the sauce, let it simmer for a few extra minutes before returning the chicken to the pan.

ingredients

4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
2 tablespoons ghee or olive oil
2 cloves garlic, minced
½ cup chicken stock
1 cup heavy cream
½ cup julienned sun-dried tomatoes packed in olive oil, drained
2 tablespoons Kikkoman® Umami Joy Sauce
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
½ cup parmesan cheese, freshly grated
½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

For Serving
1 tablespoon basil, freshly chopped

directions

  1. Blot chicken breasts dry with paper towel and season with salt and pepper. Heat ghee over medium heat in a large pan for 2 minutes. Add chicken and cook for 5 minutes per side to evenly brown. Transfer chicken to a plate.
  2. Add garlic to skillet and cook for 30 seconds. Reduce heat to medium low. Add chicken stock and use a wooden spatula to scrape up any browned bits on the pan. Add heavy cream, tomatoes, Umami Joy Sauce, Italian seasoning, parmesan cheese and red pepper flakes. Return chicken to pan and simmer for 8 minutes longer, or until chicken is cooked through.
  3. Serve hot garnished with fresh basil.

THE STORY OF SOY SAUCE

Even people who love soy sauce and use it all the time are often surprised to learn what it is and how it’s made. We make ours from just four simple ingredients—water, soybeans, wheat, and salt. Those ingredients are transformed through a traditional brewing process—much like making wine or beer—that has remained unchanged for centuries.
