ingredients

3 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 pound ground chicken
Salt, to taste
Pepper, to taste
1 small shallot, minced
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon ginger, minced
1 head butter lettuce
½ cup Kikkoman® Teriyaki Takumi, Original

For Serving
¼ cup peanuts, chopped
¼ cup carrots, julienned
¼ cup julienned radish, julienned
¼ cup sliced scallion, julienned
¼ cup cilantro, chopped
2 limes, cut into wedges
Kikkoman® Teriyaki Takumi, Original

directions

  1. Preheat a sauté pan and add in the vegetable oil. When the pan is hot, add in the ground chicken, season with salt and black pepper.
  2. Allow the chicken to sear and brown on both sides, breaking it apart with a spoon. After about 5 minutes, add in the shallot, garlic, and ginger.
  3. Sauté for another 3-5 minutes, then lower the heat and add in takumi. Stir to combine.
  4. Place a large spoonful of chicken in the center of each piece of butter lettuce.
  5. Garnish the lettuce wraps with toppings of your choice: peanuts, carrots, radish, scallion, cilantro, and a squeeze of lime. Use additional takumi for dipping.

THE STORY OF SOY SAUCE

Even people who love soy sauce and use it all the time are often surprised to learn what it is and how it’s made. We make ours from just four simple ingredients—water, soybeans, wheat, and salt. Those ingredients are transformed through a traditional brewing process—much like making wine or beer—that has remained unchanged for centuries.
