ingredients

2 tbsp butter
1 tsp Kikkoman Soy Sauce®
2 steaks (choose your favorite cut)
2 green onions, chopped, to garnish
Coarse sea salt to taste
Ground black pepper to taste
Cooking oil

directions

Preheat oven to 450F. Remove steaks from fridge 10 minutes before cooking and season both sides with coarse sea salt and ground black pepper, to taste.  Heat oil in a seasoned cast-iron skillet on medium-high. Make sure the skillet is nice and hot before the next step.

Place steaks into hot pan. Let the steaks cook for two minutes or until a nice brown crust forms. Flip over steaks and cook another two minutes. Transfer the pan into the oven (Careful! It’s hot!) and cook for 4-5 more minutes or until desired doneness. Remove pan from the oven and place the steaks on a cutting board, covering loosely with aluminum foil for 5-10 minutes.

While the steak rests, combine soy sauce and butter. A few minutes before you serve, top each steak with 1 tbsp of soy butter mixture.

THE STORY OF SOY SAUCE

Even people who love soy sauce and use it all the time are often surprised to learn what it is and how it’s made. We make ours from just four simple ingredients—water, soybeans, wheat, and salt. Those ingredients are transformed through a traditional brewing process—much like making wine or beer—that has remained unchanged for centuries.
