1 teaspoon salt
3 pounds pork spareribs
2 teaspoons vegetable oil
2 cloves garlic, minced

directions

  2. Cut ribs into 1-rib pieces. Cut breastbone portion from large rib pieces.
  3. Brown half of ribs in hot oil in Dutch oven or large saucepan over medium-high heat; remove. Brown remaining ribs with garlic in same pan. Remove pan from heat; stir in sweet & sour sauce mixture. Add ribs and stir to coat all pieces evenly with sauce. THE STORY OF SOY SAUCE

Even people who love soy sauce and use it all the time are often surprised to learn what it is and how it’s made. We make ours from just four simple ingredients—water, soybeans, wheat, and salt. Those ingredients are transformed through a traditional brewing process—much like making wine or beer—that has remained unchanged for centuries.
