ingredients

1 ½ tablespoons honey
1 ½ tablespoons brown sugar
1 ½ teaspoons Kikkoman® Sesame Oil
1 ½ teaspoons fresh lime juice
3 tablespoons Kikkoman® Soy Sauce
2 tablespoons water
1 pound ground beef
1/3 cup chopped green onions
1 tablespoon fresh garlic, minced
1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
¼ cup unsalted peanuts
2 teaspoons Kikkoman® Sriracha Hot Chili Sauce (optional)

directions

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together honey, brown sugar, sesame oil, lime juice, soy sauce and water.
  2. Preheat a skillet over medium high heat and then once hot, add the ground beef.
  3. Allow the beef to cook for 2-3 minutes or until it starts to brown on the bottom. Add green onions, garlic and ginger to the pan and continue to cook until the beef is fully cooked (2-3 more minutes).
  4. Pour the honey sauce into the pan with the beef mixture and stir well. Lower heat to medium low and allow to simmer for another minute, stirring frequently.
  5. Garnish with peanuts, sriracha, and green onions, if desired.
  6. We like to serve this dish with rice or cauliflower rice and alongside some steamed or stir fried vegetables.

THE STORY OF SOY SAUCE

Even people who love soy sauce and use it all the time are often surprised to learn what it is and how it’s made. We make ours from just four simple ingredients—water, soybeans, wheat, and salt. Those ingredients are transformed through a traditional brewing process—much like making wine or beer—that has remained unchanged for centuries.
