Made with Kikkoman® Teriyaki Marinade & Sauce and a touch of pure maple syrup, these bite-sized pieces are topped with sesame seeds and green onions for a delicious finish. Perfectly portioned for snacking, sharing, or even as a main course over rice, these sweet teriyaki bites are versatile and can be adapted to suit your preferences.

Tips and Tricks

  • To ensure even browning, make sure the skillet is hot before adding the chicken bites, and give them space to cook without crowding the pan.
  • For an alternative method, cook the chicken bites in an air fryer at 375ºF for 10-12 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through. This will give you crispy, tender bites without much oil.
  • If you want a thicker glaze, simmer the sauce a little longer until it reaches the desired consistency before adding the chicken bites back into the skillet.

ingredients

1 pound boneless/skinless chicken breast, cubed into bite size pieces
1 tablespoon cornstarch
½ teaspoon black pepper
2 tablespoon cooking oil
¼ cup Kikkoman ® Teriyaki Marinade & Sauce
2 tablespoons pure maple syrup
2 tablespoons water

For Serving
1 teaspoon sesame seeds
2 tablespoons green onion, sliced

directions

  1. Blot chicken with paper towel to remove excess moisture. Add to a mixing bowl and sprinkle with cornstarch and black pepper. Stir to coat.
  2. Heat oil over medium heat in a skillet for 2-3 minutes. Add chicken to hot skillet and cook for 7 minutes, stirring occasionally until evenly browned.
  3. While chicken cooks, stir together teriyaki, maple syrup and water.
  4. Reduce heat to low. Add sauce to skillet with chicken and simmer for 4-5 minutes longer, until sauce has reduced and thickened, stirring occasionally.
  5. Serve hot topped with sesame seeds and green onion.

THE STORY OF SOY SAUCE

Even people who love soy sauce and use it all the time are often surprised to learn what it is and how it’s made. We make ours from just four simple ingredients—water, soybeans, wheat, and salt. Those ingredients are transformed through a traditional brewing process—much like making wine or beer—that has remained unchanged for centuries.
