kikkoman products used:

ingredients

Bean Spread*
1-1/4 pounds ground beef
1/4 cup Kikkoman Teriyaki Marinade & Sauce
2 medium tomatoes, diced
1/2 cup chopped parsley
1/4 cup finely diced red onion
4 to 6 (6-inch) pitas
1/4 cup olive oil, about

directions

  1. Prepare Bean Spread.
  2. Brown beef; drain off drippings. Stir in teriyaki sauce and bring to boil. Remove from heat; stir in tomatoes, parsley and onion.
  3. To serve, cut each pita crosswise in half; brush inside of each half lightly with olive oil. Spread 1 heaping tablespoonful Bean Spread in each half, then fill with desired amount of meat mixture. Serve immediately.

*Bean Spread: Reserving liquid, drain 1 can (16 oz.) garbanzo beans. Measure 2 Tbsp. liquid from beans; 4 teaspoons Kikkoman Teriyaki Marinade & Sauce; 1 Tbsp. olive oil; 1 Tbsp. sesame seed, toasted; 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder and 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin (optional) in blender. Cover and process on low speed about 20 seconds to crush sesame seed. Add beans; cover and process on low speed about 30 seconds, or until smooth. Stir in more liquid from beans, 1 Tbsp. at a time, as needed, for spreading consistency.

THE STORY OF SOY SAUCE

Even people who love soy sauce and use it all the time are often surprised to learn what it is and how it’s made. We make ours from just four simple ingredients—water, soybeans, wheat, and salt. Those ingredients are transformed through a traditional brewing process—much like making wine or beer—that has remained unchanged for centuries.
