ingredients

4 mushrooms
14 ounces canned whole peeled tomatoes
½ garlic clove, minced
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 onion, finely chopped
1 celery stock, finely chopped
1 carrot, finely chopped
5.3 ounces ground beef
2 tablespoons red wine
¼ bouillon cube
½ bay leaf
½ teaspoon salt
Pepper, to taste
1 teaspoon Kikkoman® Soy Sauce
5.6 ounces spaghetti
2 teaspoons parmesan cheese

directions

  1. Remove the hard tip from the mushrooms and slice thinly. Mash the whole tomatoes.
  2. Heat the garlic and olive oil in a pan. Once an aroma emanates, add in the onions and stir fry until soft. Next, add in the celery, carrot and ground beef. Continue to stir-fry until the beef is evenly broken apart.
  3. Add in the mushrooms and wine. Next, add in the whole tomatoes with the bouillon cube, bay leaf, salt and pepper. Once boiling, lower the heat and leave to simmer for 15 minutes while occasionally stirring. Remove the bay leaf and pour in soy sauce.
  4. Boil the spaghetti according to the directions on the package. Drain and arrange on a plate. Pour on the meat sauce and sprinkle on some parmesan cheese.

THE STORY OF SOY SAUCE

Even people who love soy sauce and use it all the time are often surprised to learn what it is and how it’s made. We make ours from just four simple ingredients—water, soybeans, wheat, and salt. Those ingredients are transformed through a traditional brewing process—much like making wine or beer—that has remained unchanged for centuries.
