To prepare Apple Filling: Peel and core apples; cut into 1 1/4-inch wedges. In large sauté pan over medium heat, melt butter; add apples and sauté about 10 minutes or until lightly browned, tossing occasionally. Add sugar and cinnamon; reduce heat to low and cook, stirring occasionally, until syrup forms. Mix water and cornstarch; stir into apples just until cornstarch is incorporated. Remove from heat.

To prepare Topping: Mix together panko, oats, brown sugar and cinnamon. Stir in eggs and butter.

To assemble and bake dessert: Spread Apple Filling in 12-x18-inch baking pan. Cover evenly with Topping. Bake in 350 degree oven about 30 minutes or until topping is crisp and golden. Serve at room temperature with whipped cream or ice cream.

THE STORY OF SOY SAUCE

Even people who love soy sauce and use it all the time are often surprised to learn what it is and how it’s made. We make ours from just four simple ingredients—water, soybeans, wheat, and salt. Those ingredients are transformed through a traditional brewing process—much like making wine or beer—that has remained unchanged for centuries.
