Nashville Hot Honey Fried Mozzarella

Ingredients

1 block low moisture mozzarella cheese
1 cup flour
2 eggs
1 package Kikkoman® Panko Bread Crumbs 
2 teaspoons onion powder
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon oregano
1 tablespoon Kikkoman® Sriracha Hot Chili Sauce
1 tablespoon honey
3 teaspoons garlic powder
1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
½ quart canola oil

Directions

  1. Cut your low moisture mozzarella cheese block into 8 1-inch-thick rectangles.
  2. In 3 different bowls, place flour, beaten eggs and panko in each.
  3. Add onion powder, cayenne, and oregano to the panko and mix.
  4. Coat each cheese rectangle by dipping in egg wash, then flour, back to egg wash, and then panko.
  5. Once all cheese pieces are coated, place in the freezer for 45 minutes to chill.
  6. To make hot honey sauce, mix sriracha and honey with garlic powder and red pepper flakes.
  7. Pour canola oil into a pan to shallow fry your mozzarella sticks.
  8. Fry mozzarella in the pan until each side is golden brown.
  9. Once done frying, place mozzarella sticks on a wire rack and coat with hot honey sauce.
