ingredients

2 large onions
3 tablespoons Kikkoman Soy Sauce
3 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
1-1/2 teaspoons brown sugar, packed
1/2 teaspoon dried basil leaves, crumbled
1/8 teaspoon dried tarragon leaves, crumbled
Dash dried oregano leaves, crumbled
Dash ground black pepper

directions

  1. Cut unpeeled onions lengthwise into quarters.
  2. Combine soy sauce, vinegar, sugar, basil, tarragon, oregano, pepper and 1/3 cup water; pour into 8-inch square baking pan. Place onion quarters in pan, turning over to coat cut sides with sauce mixture.
  3. Bake in lower third of 400ºF. oven 40 to 45 minutes, or until onions are tender and most of liquid has evaporated, carefully turning onions over every 10 minutes.
