directions

  1. Place chicken breasts, teriyaki sauce, and broth in a slow cooker.  Cover and cook on HIGH for 2–3 hours, until the chicken is very tender and pulls apart easily.
  2. Combine cabbage, carrots, pineapple, rice vinegar, cilantro, honey, salt, and pepper in a medium bowl. Stir well. Refrigerate until serving.
  3. Transfer chicken to a cutting board and shred using two forks. Return chicken to slow cooker and stir to coat with the sauce. Cook on LOW for another 10–15 minutes.
  4. Slice 12 Hawaiian rolls horizontally. Spoon pulled chicken onto the bottom halves. Top with slaw. Cover with top bun. Enjoy right away.

THE STORY OF SOY SAUCE

Even people who love soy sauce and use it all the time are often surprised to learn what it is and how it’s made. We make ours from just four simple ingredients—water, soybeans, wheat, and salt. Those ingredients are transformed through a traditional brewing process—much like making wine or beer—that has remained unchanged for centuries.
