About

Coated in a rich, velvety umami-butter sauce, this easy recipe turns basic ingredients into a luxurious feast. Quick enough for busy weeknights, special enough to keep everyone coming back for seconds.

Ingredients

  • For Chicken
  • 2 boneless, skin-on chicken thighs

  • ¼ teaspoon salt

  • ⅛ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

  • 1 tablespoon butter

  • 1 tablespoon neutral oil

  • For Sauce
  • 3 tablespoons Shoyu (Ramen Soup base)

  • 4 tablespoons water

  • ½ tablespoon sugar

Directions

  1. Lightly season both sides of chicken thighs with salt and black pepper.
  2. Combine sauce ingredients (Shoyu, water, and sugar) in a small bowl; whisk until sugar is dissolved. Set aside.
  3. Heat neutral oil in a large frying pan over medium heat. Place chicken skin-side down in the hot pan.
  4. Cook chicken for 4 to 5 minutes until skin is golden brown and crisp. Flip and cook the other side for 3 minutes.
  5. Add the sauce mixture, cover pan with a lid, and cook for 3 minutes.
  6. Remove lid and add butter. Spoon sauce over chicken repeatedly to coat well and create a rich glaze.
  7. Transfer chicken to a serving plate and drizzle remaining sauce over top.
