Black Pepper Lovers’ SmashBurger

Ingredients

For Burgers:

1 1/2 lbs 80/20 Ground Beef

1/2 cup Kikkoman® Black Pepper Sauce

1/2 teaspoon salt

3/4 teaspoon black pepper

4 slices of American cheese

4 Brioche hamburger buns

Iceberg Lettuce, shredded for topping

Tomatoes, sliced for topping

For Special Sauce:

1/4 cup Kikkoman® Black Pepper Sauce

2 Tablespoons mayonnaise

1 1/2 teaspoons yellow mustard

  1. In a small bowl, stir together ingredients for special sauce. Set aside. 
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground beef with black pepper sauce, salt, and pepper. Loosely roll into eight 3 oz. balls, set aside on a plate. 
  3. Heat a pan or griddle to medium-high heat and add burgers. Use a spatula to smash the burgers down to ¼” thickness and cook for 2 minutes. A sheet of wax paper between the burger and spatula helps to prevent sticking.
  4. Flip burgers, add cheese to half the burgers and cook for an additional 2 minutes. Remove from the griddle and stack patties together, sandwiching each slice of cheese between 2 patties.  
  5. Dress the buns with the special sauce, lettuce, tomatoes, and other favorite toppings before serving.
