About this recipe

Who says comfort food can’t be fancy? This Miso Brown Butter Gnocchi is the ultimate combination of cozy and elevated flavors. Soft, pillowy gnocchi gets tossed in a rich, nutty brown butter sauce that’s taken to the next level with savory miso, a splash of Kikkoman® Soy Sauce, and a hint of garlic. Finished off with crunchy walnut-sage panko, it’s the perfect dish to impress without breaking a sweat.

This isn’t your average brown butter gnocchi. The toasted panko, buttery nuts, and fresh sage add texture and depth, making every bite exciting. Plus, the miso gives it a delicious umami twist that pairs perfectly with the buttery sauce. Whether you’re hosting friends or just treating yourself, this dish will leave everyone wondering how you pulled it off in under 30 minutes.

Serve it as a main course or alongside a fresh green salad, and don’t forget a sprinkle of parmesan if you’re feeling extra indulgent. Trust us—this is one dish you’ll want to make again and again.

Tips and Tricks

  • Toast the panko and nuts slowly over medium heat to bring out their full flavor without burning.
  • Make sure the butter is fully browned (but not burnt!) to get that nutty aroma and rich flavor that makes brown butter sauce for gnocchi so irresistible.
  • Don’t skip the miso—it adds a subtle yet game-changing layer of flavor to the sauce.
  • For an extra crispy texture, toast the gnocchi a bit longer until it’s golden and slightly crisp on the outside.

THE STORY OF SOY SAUCE

Even people who love soy sauce and use it all the time are often surprised to learn what it is and how it’s made. We make ours from just four simple ingredients—water, soybeans, wheat, and salt. Those ingredients are transformed through a traditional brewing process—much like making wine or beer—that has remained unchanged for centuries.
